About us.

Aynsley Planning specialises in providing high quality planning services to an array of clients based in the North East and across the UK.

The business was founded by John Aynsley who is an RTPI Chartered Planning Consultant based in the North East. John qualified as a member of the RTPI in 2018, having been awarded a Masters Degree (MPlan) in Town & Country Planning and Urban Design from Newcastle University in 2017.

John has over a decade’s worth of experience in delivering successful planning approvals across a wide range of differing sectors, both in the North East and nationally. Having worked for Local Planning Authorities and in private consultancy, alongside previous employment for the largest residential developer in the UK, John brings considerable experience and ability to deliver results for clients across all projects.

Recent success.

  • Residential Development

    Permission for 18 new homes in Thropton, Northumberland. Delivered swiftly for the client, having overseen the project team coordination, application submission, and management through to successful determination.

  • Tourism Development

    Secured planning consent for 4 shepherd huts in Norham, Northumberland. Worked with the client to provide a successful farm diversifcation scheme, which will be opening for bookings later in 2025.

  • Community Footpath

    Consent gained for a community footpath to provide access to Justice Prince Community Garden in North Tyneside. Worked with the client to deliver a scheme which allows all users to enjoy the community gardens.

  • New Garage

    We were able to achieve planning permission for a new garage at Ellington, Northumberland. The client sought a larger garage for their motorbike collection, which required a full application and negotiation with the Council on the final design.
